Urns

Urns

Urn can be used to describe any vessel that holds cremated remains. Although some funeral service providers may say differently, there is no legal requirement of what an urn needs to be. Some families opt for a vessel that has been expressly manufactured to hold remains, but some families choose vessels that reflect the unique personality of their loved one such as a tackle box or toolbox, a handcrafted ceramic pot, a cherished heirloom, or even a coffee jar or a motorcycle gas tank. When you choose cremation, you can purchase a beautiful cremation urn from Prairie Rose, you can purchase an urn from a third-party supplier, you can provide a unique vessel to be used as a cremation urn, or we can provide a temporary container. We are committed to supporting your choice of cremation urn, whatever that may be.

Urns FAQs

You can, but the urn must be scannable by the Transportation Security Agency and the Canadian Border Services Agency. This means it should be made of wood, cardboard, or plastic and not metal or marble. If you plan to fly with a non-scannable urn, airport security may open your urn and examine the contents to verify they are cremated remains.

Depending on the urn you select it may be engravable.

Almost anything can be used as an urn.
